Sevilla a través de sus leyendas
"Hércules me edificó

Traducción de unos versos latinos, ya perdidos, situados sobre la Puerta de Jerez de la muralla, que resumían brevemente el principio de la historia de Sevilla.
Sevilla tiene duende
Cada ciudad tiene sus leyendas, mitos, anécdotas y fantasmas, que imprimen un toque misterioso a su personalidad. Conocer estas leyendas es descubrir una faceta importante de su idiosincrasia y cultura.
Este cautivador paseo comienza en el convento de Santa Inés, donde podrá adentrarse en la leyenda del rey don Pedro y doña María Coronel, que ilustra cómo esta bella joven sacrificó su belleza para evitar el capricho del rey don Pedro I el cruel. El rey acosaba a doña María hasta extremos inimaginables, a pesar de que ésta no le correspondía Un día, impotente ante tan implacable persecución, viéndose acorralada y armándose de fuerza y valor, quiso acabar con todo aquello y se derramó aceite hirviendo, que cayó sobre su bello rostro y parte de su cuerpo, desfigurando así su belleza, objeto del despiadado Don Pedro. El dolor y el sufrimiento que el aceite produjo sobre Doña María, eliminó de raíz el deseo lascivo del regente, que desde entonces la dejó en paz. Pasado un tiempo, muerto el rey don Pedro, doña María recuperó las posesiones que le habían sido confiscadas por el rey. Las vendió y fundó el convento de Santa Inés, en el que hoy descansa su cuerpo incorrupto. Convento levantado en el solar en el que se ubicaba la casa de su padre, demolida por el rey Don Pedro.
En la iglesia del convento de Santa Inés oficiaba de organista Maese Pérez, cuya leyenda gira en torno a su muerte y cómo su espíritu siguió tocando después de muerto.
El paseo continuará por la calle Hombre de Piedra y Sierpes donde conocerá las leyendas que ocurrieron en sus inmediaciones, como la de bella judía Susona, de Don Miguel Mañara, del Hombre de Piedra, del NO-DO o de la calle Sierpes.

This captivating tour begins at the Convent of Santa Ines, where you can feel the legend of King Don Pedro and Doña Maria Coronel, illustrating how this beautiful young woman sacrificed her beauty to avoid the whim of King Pedro I the Cruel. The king harassed Doña Maria to unimagined extremes, although she didnít feel the same about him. One day, powerless against such relentless persecution, finding herself cornered and summoning up strength and courage, she decided to put an end to it and spilled boiling oil on herself, which fell on her beautiful face and part of her body, disfiguring her beauty, the object of the heartless Don Pedro. The pain and suffering that produced the oil on Doña Maria, eliminated the prurient desire of the regent, who since then left her in peace. After some time, King Pedro died and Doña Maria regained the possessions that had been confiscated by the king. She sold them and founded the convent of Santa Ines, where her incorrupt body rests today. The convent was built in the land on which stood the house of his father, demolished by King Don Pedro.
In the church of the Convent of Santa Ines officiated as organist Maese Perez, whose legend revolves around his death and how his mind kept playing after death.
